Black Shores

Perched above Muriwai, the site has one of the west coast's most dramatic outlooks — and every design decision was made to protect it.
Native coastal planting frames the space at low heights, chosen as much for wind and salt tolerance as for the way it holds the view open rather than filling it. Soft grasses and hardy natives layer through the planting beds, providing texture without competing for attention. Elevated timber decks step down toward an infinity-edge pool, drawing you progressively closer to the water, with glass balustrades keeping the coastline in sight throughout.
A landscape that earns its position on the cliff edge.
